Itinerary

On all our tours you will be provided with daily expert briefings about the area, and maps of the local area.

Day 1 After your arrival at Florence airport we enjoy the panoramic views of the city before making our way to our first stopm Monterriggioni, where we enjoy a brief walk on the city walls before our light lunch at a local trattoria. After lunch, we transfer to our hotel, where we have time to relax or take a bath in the thermal spring pools of the hotel. We meet again later in the afternoon for a short trip to San Quirico, where we visit the "Horti Leoni" gardens and main churches before having dinner at a delightful trattoria. After dinner, we return to our hotel for a good night's rest.

Day 2 
Following a restful night and a splendid breakfast, we enjoy our day visiting the charming hill town of Montalcino in the early morning. Montalcino is most famous for its Brunello wines, and our expert guide will show us the highlights of this area before we venture into the countryside to sample delicious Brunello wines at a leading winery. After a light lunch in a charming restaurant in of-the-main route Sant'Angelo in Colle, we visit intimate Abbey of Sant'Antimo, one of the few places where to this day monks sing ancient gregorian chants. Back on the road, we stop at Castiglione d'Orcia before we head home to our hotel. In the evening we enjoy an aperitif in our little village bar before settting off for dinner to nearby Rocca d'Orcia where we have our wonderful Tuscan dinner in a typical osteria. We return to our hotel for the night.

Day 3 Today we visit Pienza and an organic farm where we learn how genuine cheese is made, enjoy a tasting of wild herbs that are found locally and explained to us by an enthusiastic young expert. In the afternoon we visit Montepulciano, the place bst known for its "Vino Nobile" wines. After an introduction to the wine area, we visit a "cantina = local wine cellar for a tour and wine tastings. Before we leave, we  stop at a local "pasticceria" = bakery shop, where we learn about the secrets of their pastries. After saying good-bye to Montepulciano, we visit Monticchiello were we stop for a short "aperitivo" and a stroll. We then return to our hotel for a little down-time, before walking to our  dinner in the delightful surroundings of our village.

Day 4 We drive to Certaldo, a gem little visited by international tourists, and meet our host who will help us with the shopping at the local food market. With the food bought freshly, we start our cooking class in a place nearby the market. While preparing our typical Tuscan dishes is a serious endeveaour, there is enough time to enjoy Certaldo, have a cappuccino, or go for a stroll in the car-free city center. After lunch based on the fruits of our preparations, we set off to near San Gimignano, where we check in to our second hotel, the Agriturismo Guardastelle.We'll enjoy a late afternoon guided tour through San Gimignano (when most tourists are gone), and stop for a tasting of the "Vernaccia" white wine so typical for San Gimignano. Tonight you will enjoy a free evening to explore and relax on your own. Our guides and transportation will be at your disposal for suggestions.

Day 5 We venture into famous Chianti territory and enjoy a guided tour at an amazing winery that prides itself in the conservation of the traditional Chianti landscape. After the visit to the winery, we drive our way to a peak-of-the-hill restaurant where we enjoy stunning viewes of the Chianti area. In the afternoon, we visit a small Chianti village, where we also have some time for shopping. After a long day exploring Chianti, we kick back and relax at our Agritourism, where we watch the stars and enjoy a private dinner for our group.

Day 6 On our last day iyou choose to visit San Gimignano for sighseeing and shopping, or to visit the wine cellars of our hosts with wine tastings. There is no lunch today to allow you some extra time for your explorations. In the afternoon, we visit San Vivaldo and a few of the many chapels in this place along the "Via Crux", where in ancient times pilgrims from all over Europe would stop on their hazardous way to Rome. We then visit San Miniato, the Tuscan "cpaital" of truffle hunting. We enjoy a real truffle hunt (black truffle in spring-summer, white truffle in fall-winter) and enjoy our last dinner of this tour a delicious truffle-based menu.

Day 7 We have met new people, made new friends along the journey, steeped ourselves in the history and the culinary culture of Tuscany, and experienced the beauty of this region with our own eyes. After our breakfast, it is time to exchange addresses, and say good-bye to our hosts. For those departing today, transport is arranged to Florence airport.
